Cuenca es un municipio perteneciente a la Comunidad Autónoma de Castilla la Mancha. Se encuentra en un promontorio de roca, cuyas laderas descienden casi en vertical, en los ríos Júcar y Huécar.
Como se ve en la fotografía, Las Casas Colgadas, fueron construidas sobre una roca encima de la garganta del río Huécar en el Siglo XV. Después de milenios que datan desde el mas remoto paleolítico superior, 90.000 a.C, pasando por la época Romana, hasta la posterior invasión musulmana donde en el año 784 se estableció la ciudad de Qunka o Kunka.
Estos son los únicos ejemplos que quedan de este tipo de edificio que era común en esta ciudad desde hace mucho tiempo. En la actualidad las Casas Colgadas albergan un restaurante y el Museo de Arte Abstracto.
También sirven como plató para millones de fotos hechas desde el puente de San Pablo.
La Ciudad Encantada, sitio geológico cercano a la ciudad de Cuenca, en Castilla La Mancha, España, en el que las fuerzas erosivas del clima y las aguas del cercano río Júcar, han formado rocas de formas muy especiales y fantásticas.
Estas rocas de belleza impresionante, también se prestan para el deporte de escalada.
