EMT – Madrid City Bus Service

The Municipal Transport Company of Madrid, EMT for short of (Empresa Municipal de Transportes), is a corporation owned by the Madrid City Council, responsible for the provision of public collective urban transport for the city of Madrid.

The EMT is integrated into the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid, the institutional entity responsible for the planning of public transport in the city and in the autonomous community of Madrid.

The EMT has a fleet of 2,068 buses to operate a total of 217 lines. Of the 217 lines operated by the EMT, 171 are conventional daytime lines, 1 Express Airport Shuttle, 7 are lines that serve only university, while in term time, 26 are conventional night lines and 12 night lines of ‘Metrobúhos’ (replacing the Metro after it closes for the night, weekends and public holidays).

EMT buses serve 365 days a year, and 24 hours a day, with a commitment to provide efficient, high quality public transport for the city of Madrid.
