En Bicicleta Por La Casa de Campo

En Bicicleta Por La Casa de Campo

We call it Madrid’s Lungs, due to its dimensions, and natural vegetation. Casa de Campo, is the main park of Madrid with its 1722 Hectares, it is twice the size of Bois de Boulogne in Paris, and 6.5 times larger than Hyde Park in London.

It gives us an escape from the noise, and other city contamination, ideal for bike riding and other sports.

El Lago, (The Lake) is a body of water located in the park. Originally there were five interconnected ponds, constructed in 1563 by Dutchman Pierre Jasen, that due to the rain, became one small lake.  It has a nearly 80,000 square meters, slightly bigger than the pond in the Retiro Park.

Casa de Campo is a small forest of oak trees close to the city centre. You can also see other tree species like pines, poplars, chestnuts, and willows. In 2002 the inventory of trees was of 686,294 units.

In this tour, from Casa de Campo, we go to ride along the Manzanares River, very close from this point, and a few metres away from the entry gate of Casa de Campo.
