La Gran Via

La Gran Via

Gran Via can be divided into three sections, of which this virtual walking tour of Madrid, can start in the Plaza Callao, where we will walk eastward to the Red de San Luis, where the picture above of the Metro station, was taken.

This is the second section of the Gran Via, which goes from Callao, to the Red de San Luis, known for the great world-renowned fashion stores such as H&M, Zara, Mango, Primark, among many others.

This photo was taken from Callao and showing the Grand Via, where we start this walking tour, that will take us to La Cibeles, where we will take a right on Paseo del Prado, walking to Plaza Neptuno. Here we take another right and leave to the left the Hotel Palace, to the right the Palace of Congress, all the way to Puerta del Sol, and back to Callao where we started.

The photo below was taken from Callao and shows the Gran Via, where we will begin this tour of Madrid. From here we will go to La Cibeles, and continue to the right on Paseo del Prado to Plaza Neptuno Plaza.  A few meters away, the Congress of Deputies, Carrera de San Jeronimo, to the Puerta del Sol, and back to Callao.

Very close to Callao, we see the number 38, of the Hotel Atlántico, which has been open for many years now, and in front, at number 37, where today the H&M store is, in the basement once was the famous nightclub Pasapoga, which has been closed after many years.

At number 31, of this stretch of the Gran Vía, there is an official, and frequently visited shop of Real Madrid football club.

The emblematic Telefónica building is seen on the photo above, with its clock. This was the tallest building in the city when built in 1929.
