Plaza Mayor

In this virtual tour, from Puerta del Sol, we continue towards calle Mayor and about 250 meters, to the left hand side, we have the astounding Plaza Mayor.

We enter through one of the nine arched gates of the square, and on any day, we can find lots of activities that characterizes it. For example, on Sunday mornings, you can experience the tradition of buying or exchanging old coins and stamps in the philatelic market. This market has been going on, and it is a classic for Sunday mornings since the late 1920s.

There is always a lot of movement in the Plaza Mayor. Street performers, human statues, cartoonists, concerts, and exhibitions, are organized, by both, popular traditions, and by the City Council.

At any time, and practically all year, you can enjoy one of the terraces in the Plaza Mayor.
